Season 2025-26

The season began with a League Cup group match against Arbroath at Gayfield on the 12th of July 2025.

The low-key match ended goalless with the Red Lichties taking the bonus point following a 4-3 penalty win.

This turned out to be the only "blip" in the entire competition as 2-1 victories over Forfar Athletic and Ayr United along with an 8-2 thrashing of Annan Athletic saw Saints top their group.

Penalty wins over Hearts and Kilmarnock followed and took them to a semi-final against Motherwell at Hampden Park in November.

Goals from Dan Nlundulu, Richard King and a double from Mika Mandron earned a 4-1 victory and a place in the final against Celtic.

On the 14th of December Saints were the underdogs but got off to a brilliant start as captain for the day Marcus Fraser headed home a Keanu Baccus corner inside the opening 90 seconds.
Celtic hit back through Reo Hatate midway through the first half, but two second half goals from Jonah Ayunga secured a great 3-1 victory and the League Cup returned to Paisley for the second time.

Unfortunately, League form did not reflect the cup form with just two wins in the opening 14 matches, and Saints spent the majority of the season in the lower half of the table.

Again, it was cup competition which provided some relief after the New Year with victories over Livingston, Airdrie and Partick Thistle taking Saints to Hampden for a third time during the season to face Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

On the 19th of April 2026 Saints were dealt a double blow early in the match with the loss of a goal inside the first minute and they then lost goalkeeper Ryan Mullen to injury after quarter of an hour. With number 1 keeper Shamal George already out injured, seventeen-year-old Grant Tamosevicius was called into action.
In a thrilling match Saints fought back from 2-0 down to take the match to extra time with Mika Mandron scoring twice.
Unfortunately, a disastrous six-minutes in the extra period saw Celtic fire in four goals to end Saints hopes of a cup double.

Another blow for Saints was the loss of manager Stephen Robinson to Aberdeen in March, with U18 manager Craig McLeish taking over until the end of the season.

With the Scottish Cup run failing to spark any upturn in league form Saints finished second bottom of the league and faced Championship side Partick Thistle in a relegation play-off.
After a nervy 1-1 draw at Firhill, Marcus Fraser became a hero again with the only goal in the return leg in Paisley to secure Saints top-flight status for another year.
