Internationalists

Over the years St. Mirren have had 45 players capped at full international level, representing 13 different nations.

28 of them for Scotland, three for Northern Ireland, two each for Iceland, Australia and the Republic of Ireland and one player has represented the teams of Wales, Canada, Cyprus, Estonia, Haiti, Uganda, Kenya and New Zealand.

The first Saints players capped were Andrew Brown and James 'Daddy' Dunlop who represented Scotland against Wales on the 22nd March 1890.
 
Most capped is Keanu Baccus with eighteen for the Australian national team. Billy Thomson and Iain Munro hold seven caps each for Scotland as the most capped Scottish players while at the club.

The most capped Scottish player to play for the Saints is Roy Aitken who gained 57 caps during his career, although only one of those was whilst at Love Street. The most capped player ever to wear the stripes is Mo Camara, who won 79 caps for Guinea prior to signing for Saints.
The most capped former Saint is Sander Puri who played for Estonia 92 times, although only one was as a Saint.

Only one St. Mirren player has had the honour of captaining Scotland and that was back in 1905 when Thomas Jackson skippered the team against Wales in Wrexham.
Icelander Therolf Beck had the honour of captaining his country against Finland in August 1964.

Two players have scored for Scotland. Bobby Rankin with two goals leads the way from Tommy Gemmell with one.

Alex Greive and Therolf Beck have both scored twice for their countries while Keanu Baccus, Duckens Nazon and Conor McMenamin have scored once for theirs.

Paul Fenwick became the first Saint to play in an international tournament when he lined up for Canada in the 1996 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Keanu Baccus became the first Saints player to play in the World Cup when he played for Australia against France on the 22nd of November 2022. In January 2024 he played in his second international tournament, The AFC Asian Cup.
