Season 2017-18

For the first time in several seasons, Saints managed to retain most of the squad from the previous campaign.
Main losses were Stevie Mallan who left for Barnsley and loan players who returned to their parent clubs.
New signings arrived in the shape of Ian McShane (Ross County), Jordan Kirkpatrick (Alloa Athletic), Gavin Reilly(Hearts) and Gregor Buchanan(Dumbarton). Cammy Smith returned from Aberdeen on a permanent deal.
An old Favourite returned in the shape of League Cup winning keeper Craig Samson. A potentially confusing situation arose when Saint made a double signing from Albion Rovers. Both players were called Ross Stewart! Fortunately one is a goalkeeper and the other a forward, so hopefully easily identifiable. At the start of August, loanee Harry Davis rejoined on a permanent deal.
In a complete change to the previous few seasons, Saints started well, recording their first opening day victory in 11 years, with a 3-1 win over Falkirk. The season continued with Saints showing great consistency and on the 14th April 2018, a 0-0 draw at home to Livingston, secured the Championship title.
The culmination of an amazing 15 month period in the clubs history.
Jack Ross had done the unbelievable and turned a team on the brink of relegation into champions.
