Season 2010-11

Season 2010-11 was one of great change for Saints. Gus MacPherson and Andy Millen were sacked and replaced by Cowdenbeath manager Danny Lennon and assistant Iain Jenkins.

On the player front Mehmet, Brighton, Innes, Ross, O'Donnell, Dorman, Johnstone, Carey, Loy, Smith and Howard all left.

It took until mid October before the squad was replenished, many players coming from the lower leagues including four from the manager’s former club, Paul McQuade, Darren McGregor, Peter Bradley and Gareth Wardlaw. They were joined by Craig Samson, Paul McGowan, Jure Travner, Sean Lynch, Nick Hegarty, Jamie McCluskey and Patrick Cregg.

There was also a return for two former Saints with David van Zanten and Marc McAusland returning to the club.

The story of the season was conceding late goals, which wrecked any chance of a high league finish or a successful cup run.

Again it came down to the post split games with Saints still stuck in a relegation battle.

It took until the second last game of the season to secure their SPL place with a first win in Aberdeen for 24 years courtesy of a Gareth Wardlaw goal.

Manager Danny Lennon began the preparation for next season, announcing that fourteen player would be leaving. Amongst them club captain John Potter, Craig Dargo, Garry Brady and Gareth Wardlaw.
