Season 1966-67

This was only a temporary reprieve as the following season they were unable to conjure up a miracle and were relegated.

The season had started in familiar fashion with only two points from six league cup games including a whopping 8-2 defeat by Celtic, after having led 2-0!

The league programme opened with a 3-2 win over Kilmarnock but was followed by eleven defeats and two draws to see the club near the foot of the table by the New Year.

Four consecutive 3-0 defeats and a 2-0 reverse, at the beginning of January left Saints adrift at the foot of the table. A 4-0 win over Stirling Albion gave some hope for survival but only five points from the final 12 games saw them relegated for the first time since 1935.
