Season 1936-37

1/1
Having regained their place in the top flight, St.Mirren opened with a 3-0 win over Albion Rovers at Love Street. They faced Rovers again in the third match (having lost the 2nd to St.Johnstone) and won more convincingly, 6-2.
This game was notable as the debut of Willie Kelly, who was to become a stalwart at Love Street in the coming seasons and for Jimmy Knox scoring four times on his way to regaining the top scorer’s mantle with 19 goals.
In October, manager John Morrison, who had been in charge for seven years quit the club and was replaced by Sam Blythe, who had been assistant to John Cochrane in the 1920’s.
Results for the remainder of the season were inconsistent and a final 16th placing was achieved.
