Season 1928-29

1928-29 saw good and bad from the team. The forwards were amongst the most prolific in the league scoring 78 times, eleven more than second placed Celtic! Unfortunately the defence was not as successful and lost 75! So a mid-table eighth was achieved.

Most of the scoring plaudits once again went to Davie McCrae with 25 goals, but he had a rival in the shape of Bobby Rankin who netted 19 times.

Both men were rewarded when they were included in the Scotland team to face Norway (26/5) and Germany (1/6). Rankin was to score against Norway in a 7-3 victory and also in a third match against Holland (4/6) in a 2-0 win to make him the Saints player to have scored most international goals during their time at Love Street.
