Season 1911-12

1911-12 was to see a continuation of the poor form. They were eliminated from the Scottish Cup in the first round by Aberdeen and only managed seven league wins from 34 matches!

Inconsistency of team selection could be blamed for the poor form with no fewer than seven players tried at centre forward in the first nine matches as Mr Law tried to find the right blend. Unfortunately he never found it and Saints finished bottom, having to seek re-election, which they did successfully.

The season was summed up by a humiliating exit from the Renfrewshire Cup at the hands of non-league Arthurlie.

When the two teams met again in the Paisley Charity Cup St.Mirren won through, but only because they won more corners!

In the final of the Charity Cup Saints scraped a 1-0 win over Johnstone courtesy of a penalty needlessly given away by a Johnstone defender. This was one of only two spot kicks converted by Saints throughout the season with five different players each missing at least once.
