Consolation Cup provided St Mirren Juniors with their first piece of silverware in their short existence
The first
round saw them paired with Kilbarchan and goals from Durward and McDougall took Saints through with a 2-1 victory. Port
Glasgow Corinthians provided the opposition for the semi final at Love Street and Saints progressed to the final with a 3-1
victory.
On Saturday 19th May 1917 St Mirren Juniors lined up for their first ever final with the following team:-
Hart, McLeod, McQuade, Hayman, McDade, Peters, Rogers, Lauder, Leitch, Howie and Durward.
Neilston Victoria provided the opposition, but were no match for Saints who ran out comfortable 5-1 winners. Rogers led
the way with two goals and Lauder, Leitch and Durward each scored to secure the win.
