Davie McCrae first caught the eye at Love Street in a Scottish Cup tie on the 26th January 1924 when third division Beith came calling.
Records show that Saints won a tight match 3-2, but the star of the show was Beith forward McCrae.
So impressed were the Saints management that they signed him a few days later.
Over the next ten years, Davie McCrae was to become the greatest goal scorer in the clubs history, finding the net on 251 occasions in 352 matches.
He scored the first goal in the 1926 Scottish Cup win over Celtic.
