The Tennents' Sixes was an annual indoor 6-aside tournament contested each January by Scottish clubs, mostly from the top division, but occasionally with guest participants from lower divisions and on a couple of occasions, the English league was represented by Manchester City and Nottingham Forest.
The tournament was played between 1984 and 1993. It was sponsored
by Tennent Caledonian Breweries.
The first event in 1984 was
played at Coasters arena in falkirk and the 1985 tournament was at the Ingliston Showgrounds in Edinburgh. The remaining eight
tournaments were played at the SECC in Glasgow.
When Tennent Caledonian Breweries withdrew their sponsorship after the 1993
event, the Sixes was discontinued.
St Mirren competed in the first nine competitions missing the final one in 1993 following relegation the previous
season.
The best years for Saints were in 1986 and 1990 when they reached the final, but failed to win any of them.
The tournament consisted of a group stage and then semi finals and final.
