1917-18 began at Tynecastle against Hearts with bizarre events! Saints outside right Higginbottom was getting a lot
of abuse from a certain spectator, and with Saints 2-1 down, Higginbottom had had enough and vaulted the fence and gave chase
to the offending person! Newspapers of the time give no account of whether he caught the spectator, but on his return to the
field of play he was promptly sent off by the referee!
This was to be followed later in the season by a pitch invasion at Love
Street by a Canadian soldier, protesting at the War!
Erratic results were again the order of the day, with a 5-1 victory over Hamilton
being followed a week later by 5-1 defeat at Kilmarnock!
The Paisley Charity Cup was won with a 3-0 victory over Abercorn.
