Paisley's forgotten senior football club

Way back in 1877, football in Paisley gained a new name.
St Mirren Football Club was born.
Over 130 years later that name is still going strong in the top flight of the Scottish game.

What is less known, is that another name appeared on the football map of Paisley that year.
One that has been largely overlooked amidst the success of the Saints.

That team was Abercorn.
Formed just a month after St Mirren, they were also a major player in the formation of the Scottish League in 1890 and played their part in the early years of Scottish football.

Within this site we hope to be able to revive memories of the club and highlight its part in history.

With Abercorn going out of existence almost 100 years ago now, it is very difficult to get accurate information regarding their involvment in the game.
I have also not come across any photographic image of anything to do with the club except the team pictures on the site.
If anyone has any information or pictures that could be used on the site I would be very greatful.
