St.Mirren signed James Howieson from
Dundee
in 1925. He went straight into the first team and was part of the successful
run to the Scottish Cup final in 1926. Howieson scored the second goal that day
in a 2-0 victory over Celtic to take the trophy to Paisley for the first time.
An inside forward in the traditional mould his performances earned him a cap
against Northern Ireland
in February 1927. At the end of the season he left to join Hull
City
for £4000.
