James Hamilton
joined Saints during 1921 from Vale of Clyde and quickly established himself in
the team.
A full back of some stature he possessed a great positional sense and was known
to beat faster and more skilful players,
simply by being in the right place at the right time. His reading of the game
earned much respect and he was capped by Scotland
against Northern Ireland
in March 1924. He also gained a Scottish league cap during this season against
the English league.
Performances for Saints and in these international matches saw Rangers take him
to Ibrox at the end of the season.
