David Lindsay joined St.Mirren in 1899,
making his debut against Partick Thistle at Meadowside in a West of Scotland
League match. His Scottish league debut came on the 30th December at St Bernards.
He soon made the right wing position his
own and earned a reputation as a fast tricky player, supplying many telling
crosses. He could also score goals and during the 1900-01 season he netted seven
from 20 games. Over the next few seasons his good form
continued and he occasionally was asked to turn out at centre forward and proved
a capable leader of the front line. This play was rewarded by an
international cap against Ireland in 1903.
