A stint with junior side Maryhill was
the catalyst for saints to sign Charles Pringle during the First World War. Not
very tall or well built he would never qualify to being described as robust, yet
despite this lack of physical build, his bustling and strong
tackling techniques were soon earning much respect in the game.
This respect gained him a cap against Wales
in March 1921 and a Scottish League cap against the Irish league the same year
before he left the club for Manchester City
where he was part of their Division Two Championship winning team in 1928.
